Plenary Speaker: Barry Hooper

Director, CTO and founder of KC8 Capture Technologies Ltd (KC8)

Barry Hooper is Director, CTO and founder of KC8 Capture Technologies Ltd (KC8), (www.kc8capture.com), a start-up company commercialising low-cost environmental technologies to reduce industrial CO2 emissions.

Prior to that Barry was the Chief Technologist of the CO2CRC from 2003 to 2014 involved in all aspects of carbon capture and storage (CCS )with emphasis on carbon capture. In 2014, he and a group of chemical engineers spun out IP from CO2CRC and formed UNO Technology P/L. which later became KC8, a public company raising funds to progress scaleup and commercialisation.

He has a BE (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Queensland with over 40 years’ experience in design and operations across the international oil, gas and chemical processing industries. Before joining CO2CRC he was Corporate Engineering and Manufacturing Manager for Orica.  He is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineering and holds an Honorary Fellowship at the University of Melbourne.
